ADD/ADHD Counselling and Coaching

As an ADHD specialist, I am here to help adults and adolescents alike who may have or have ADD/ADHD to:

    1) better understand, manage, and celebrate their ADD/ADHD,
    2) experience the great benefits I found in knowing all I can about ADD/ADHD,
    3) minimizing the negative impact of the side effects.

Word as a father...
I am a proud ADHD-father of two adult sons. One has ADD and the other ADHD. I can speak about ADHD as a therapist/coach as well as a father. Like many parents I want to be able to educate my sons and people around me about ADHD. This is why I have educated myself around ADD/ADHD. As a expert ADD therapist and coach, I have helped thousands to better understand, manage, and celebrate their ADD/ADHD.

What to bring to your first appointment?
Complete the following questionnaires prior to your initial appointment:

  1. Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS-v1.1) Symptom Checklist
  2. Jasper/Goldberg Adult ADD/ADHD Screening Quiz

These ADHD questionnaires are for your entertainment and possibly educational use only and do not replace in any way a formal psychiatric evaluation. Remember for a diagnosis, you need to contact a licensed mental health professional. We do not provide a diagnosis.

ADD/ADHD is...?
ADD - “attention deficit disorder" or ADHD - “attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder” is a highly misleading description of an intriguing kind of mind. Original, charismatic, energetic, often brilliant, people with ADD/ADHD have extraordinary talents and gifts embedded in their highly active but easily distracted minds. In my opinion, "ADD/ADHD is a gift with disabling side effects" - not a disorder. When it is managed properly, it can become a huge asset in one’s life. Both I and many people have the gift.

As I like to describe it, ADD/ADHD is like having a silent or loud race car with:

  1. an overly active engine for a mind, and a low physical energy battery.
  2. You try to stop, relax, unwind, slow down your mind or cruise at the average human pace, but you can't - the gear-shift is stuck in HIGH speed.
  3. You try to keep your eyes focused on what people say to you,
  4. You try to wrap up the final details of a project, once the challenging parts have been done,
  5. You try to get things in order when you have to do a task that requires organization or
  6. You try to keep your attention when you're doing boring or repetitive work, but you can't - the battery is constantly under charged and the brain wants to fall asleep.

ADHD is now recognized as being lifelong and is most commonly identified in school aged children but that carries on throughout adolescence and into adulthood for many people. Read about the history of ADHD.
